He is very timid, in part due to tramatic events as a child and the supernatural ability to sense the magic of Transitus so clearly. However, when it comes to the Espers and magic, he only partially overcomes this timidness and shows small signs of strength and pride towards his pursuance of his goals to partner with all the Espers. He has a hard time expressing himself. _______ Goals ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Cert wishes to be partnered with every Esper in Transitus. He also wishes to learn as much about the nature of the dimensional state of Transitus as possible, in hopes that ways can be found to penetrate the dimensional borders to visit the worlds that outsiders come from. ___________ Backstory ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Cert was born in Elige to Alan and Gina Xopin. Alan was a famed Chemist, while Gina was a famed Bard. As such, people at first expected great things for Cert. After some time in school trying to find what he was good at, it dawned on him that he could sense the magic of Transitus, especially that of the Espers. But whenever he tried to explain this to people, he found that people were either uninterested or that he couldn't express his wishes properly. As such, he had few friends. But at the time, he felt they were his best friends. When he was 10, his friends decided to play some games around an old rope bridge. The bridge seemed to be near the point of collapse. Cert only seemed to feign interest in the games, and was more intent on examining the bridge. His friends eventually also started to hang out around the bridge, when disaster struck! The bridge began to fall apart, and while everyone made it back to land safely, Cert was traumatized by the event and felt it was partially his fault that they nearly lost their lives. From then on, Cert would shy away from others to focus on his studies of magic and Espers, and it would be very hard for him to do much for the next 11 years of his life due to the constant fear that came when he would have to go across a bridge for his travels. Although his parents were worried for him during those 11 years, they decided to not intervene, as they did not want to make the situation worse. Cert tried his best to group himself with others to help further his studies, but things would never last. He hopes to find a group that he can stick with, but he focuses more on his goals. His only reason for wanting to help visit other worlds is that he hopes someone in one of those worlds would know what his plights have been, so in addition to his search for magic and Espers, he also has dedicated himself to learning some about the dimensions. After his traumatizing event as a kid and his fear of bridges, he gained a certain knack for knowing where to go. It took some time, but he could eventually ignore bridges most of the time. - Fast Metabolism (1) Perhaps it's because of good eating habits or his magical abilities, but Cert has a fast metabolism. He doesn't gain much in the way of weight, and heals much faster than most people (extra hit die on healing spells), but is more at risk of being poisoned as a side effect (+20% chance). He tries his best to make sure he keeps such a metabolism in effect. - Gift of Tongues (1) More than likely due to his training as a Black Caller, Cert has an uncanny knack for language. He can pick up languages with ease, and has a few under his belt already. - Heighted Senses, Supernatural (3) Cert has no explanation for why he has these abilities, but he can sense the very magic of Transitus at the finest levels. He is well aware of the almost non-existant Cosmic Magic in the world, and he is aware of the presence of the world's Espers, something which he now seeks. - Rich Family (1) Due to the fame tied to his parents, Cert's family has grown quite rich. Even though he hasn't been the ideal son (and is an only child), his parents still care for him and try to help him in the monetary realm. _______________ Disadvantages ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ - Enemy (2) Cert is at odds with a relatively mysterious man known only as Lazzari, a Black Caller, that is trying to claim the Esper's for evil as opposed to good. This Black Caller knows that Cert is also looking for the Espers, and will attempt to stop Cert from succeeding by any means necessary. - Flashbacks (2) Tied in to the fear of crossing bridges (explained next), Cert experiences flashbacks to the tramatic event that nearly caused him and his friends to lose their lives. The memory surrounding the events leading up to that have haunted him, as he feels he may have almost been responsible for the endangerment of the group. - Phobia [Gephydrophobia a.k.a. Fear of Crossing Bridges] (2) When Cert was just a kid and out with his friends, he was examining on a rickety rope bridge. When his friends came by to also hang out on the bridge, it began to fall apart. Although everyone made it to safety, Cert was scarred for life by the incident. Since then, he has been unable to cross bridges, which limited his knowledge of the world for quite some time before he found places in the land where bridges were not needed. - Weak Alcohol Tolerance (1) Cert's vitality is not exactly the greatest, and he is still a bit young to be drinking. Even so, every time he has ever tried to take a swig of alcohol, it's messed him up much quicker than most people, and has caused him loads of trouble in the past.
