This is a test (pre-alpha) build of Aegis, a post-apocalyptic platformer created by Marshall Ashton (art and story) and Naram Qashat (programming). This game is being made for our project class for the Fall 2008 term.
The following are the controls for this test build (will later be integrated into a tutorial in the game):
- Left and Right arrows - Left and Right movement
- S - Jump
- A - Dash
- Up and Down arrows - Climb up and down ladders (Down also drops from the gray two-way platform)
- W and E - Equip and deequip weapons (W for the Sword and E for the Rifle)
- Q - Toggle inventory screen (within inventory, left and right arrows do left and right, down arrow enters a section, up arrow exists a section)
- D - Attack, holding it down will not repeat attacks
- F - Secondary or Charge Attack, the former for ranged weapons acting just like normal attacks, the latter for melee weapons and requires being held down to charge and let go to release.
Some additional movement information:
- When you are on a ladder, you can press jump and get off the ladder.
- Certain walls allow you to grip on to them by moving into them.
- To detach from a wall, you can press in the opposite direction of the wall, and you can jump off if you hold jump as well.
- You can not climb ladders or grip walls when a weapon is equipped.
- When dashing, you can do a dash jump if you are pressing the arrow in the same direction when you dash and then jump in mid-dash.
- You can equip and deequip while in the air.
The following are known issues with the game:
- You can get stuck in the left wall in the first area if the enemy knocks you into it.
- If you do a dash attack and press the attack button in the middle of dash attack, you zoom off uncontrollably.
- Sometimes the game will get stuck after an attack, the cause isn't easily known yet.
